Monday/Tuesday Teaching topic for October

Hey guys, the next topic I'm planning on covering for October is: Death. I know that might sound morbid, but frankly we (the Church) just doesn't talk about it enough. So probably two weeks (starting Tuesday October 18). We'll look at some "death facts" like everyone will experience it, how to help someone who is sad becasue of a death, how death should make us enjoy life more, and the idea of what will happen to you after death.

Are you interrested in gettin into the whole "what is Heaven like, what is Hell lilke thing"?

What else should I tackle?

Hehe first post, (and hopefully not the only one)I guess I'm the first one doing this because I'm more internet inclined. Anyone I guess I need to comment on what Chris said Tuesday night. I think it's interesting to talk about death, something that will probably keep more middle-schoolers attention. Also, hopefully in talking about this people won't be quite so freaked out about death, hopefully they'll learn to understand it's gonna happen and not be paranoid!(I've been a little like that lately)
So there it is my 2 cents.

I hear you Brad. Some days I totally am not ready to die... but as I get older some days I'm ready to be home with Jesus and away from this world. So you sound pretty normal. Next week we talk a little about Heaven/Hell so hopefully that'll help you even more! Thanx for bloggin' in!

Hey Chris, sorry it took so long for me to find this site. Anyways, I think you are right, and death should be taken more seriously. This has so far(and hopefully will remain)a good lesson. See you later!

No sweat Ricky... just glad you're here! Tuesday we'll take a look at what Heaven and Hell might be like. It won't be as heavy as last week, but still something "serious". What do you think Heaven will be like? Anyone?

Also... we won't be doing Doug Baker's Funeral this Tuesday. Lots of reasons. But Doug is up for it and so we'll plan it for some time in the future. Just thought you'd want to know!

well, what i(we) think is that death is kind of a creepy subject but i(we) think it's something good to talk about. i (we) assume that most youth groups would kind of want to stay away from the topic. i (we) say we all face the music and accept that we are all gonna die sooner or later. wow!! i (we) just typed something serious!! btw, who's bobby??

I agree ladies, I think most groups don't talk about , well, because it ain't a real fun topic. At the same time, though, it doesn't have to be all morbid and sad... right? So hopefully "facing the music" helps you focus on how you're living now and preparing for eternity! Tomorrow we talk about what Heaven/Hell is like. Any ideas?

I have a slight idea in my head what hell is like. I think you would be dangling over a pit of fire, watching your legs burn away, while your teeth are being gnashed by demons, and you're so thirsty without a little swallow of water

Oh by the way, i think another really good lesson for sometime in the future would be racism. Just something to think about.

ha ha it's funny you say that ricky, we were talking about racism earlier today. chirs, i think you did a great job teaching about what heaven & hell is like and the whole death thing. i never really thought about it and it kind of made me want to go and check it out for myself. though it is kind of creepy and awkward topic you approached it in a not-so creepy and awkward way. way to go chris! so, whats next????? i say you talk about..... hmm... i don't know.

so, what's the next topic chris?

Wow, is it me, or are our comments really close together(by time I mean). ANYWAYS, that is pretty weird Amanda that you were just thinking about racism when I put that up. I think racism is something you should teach about just because we have so much of it in our society, at school(exept for us homeschoolers), at work(for those of us who go to work), and sadly sometimes at church. So Chris, if you do teach us about this, God speed.

I have a few more sugestions for you chris. I was also thinking like the ten commandments, how we know we're right, media vs. Bible, and since you've already covered friends and where we're spending eternity, how about the second most important decision we'll ever make, our spouse. Just a few more options I thought up.
