Looking for New Topics TRL/MNL

We'll finish the "Metaphors of God" topic right before we break for Christmas. So what would you be interrested in after that? Help be by answering these Q's:

1) What's the biggest thing on your mind right now?
(Don't try to sound spiritual, don't think about it too much, just write the first thing you
think of!)

2) What do you think most High Schoolers/Jr Highers think about a lot?
(Again, don't anylize this too much, just give me your first impression!)

So hi, i am coming back to youth group soon and i was wondering what topics you guys were doing lately...

8:25 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

I think how to respect your parents
would be a good lesson, not just for me but for the kids who don't usually go to church and don't know what's good for them.

11:38 AM
Blogger The Carters said...

good ideas, keep 'em coming!

4:43 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Oh, you guys are looking for ideas i get it. Well i think respecting your parents is good too. Maybe it will show people how good they have it.

7:26 PM
Blogger amanda said...

this isn't exactly an idea, but i was quite confused about who melchizedek was. or however you spell his name. and i still think you should disciss revelation. there's a lot of stuff in there that gets me all confused.

3:21 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

You know Chris, for ideas you could just go back to the 2,100 ideas I came up with in one of the other posts.

4:16 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Hey don't you think it's funny that
it's only us jr. highers are posting messages?

4:22 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Hey ya that is weird! Chris tell the High Schoolers tomorrow to post stuff!

4:29 PM
Blogger amanda said...

the highschoolers don't post stuff cuz they think they are too cool for such a childish act. what has been on my mind lately is...um... i don't know. but questions about revelation have been coming up a lot in my household. *hint hint* cough cough cough*

5:41 PM
Blogger shannon said...

I think we should do something on like racism ar some kind of other issue that come up a lot today in the world

6:58 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Hey Shannon, you stole the racism idea from me! Ok, I don't know if you really did but I told Chris that already and he's working on it(I hope).

11:03 AM
Blogger shannon said...

Hah hah you caught me but i still think it's a good idea.

4:00 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Oh, whatever. Nice try!

7:42 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

See Chris! That's TWO, 2, dos, people who want to hear about racism. You better start working on
it!

7:44 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

can someone please tell me who melchizedek is? i guess racism would be alright to talk about. but i still think that revelations is better. cuz i have a lot a lot a lot of questions about it. or something like Matthew 5.

8:06 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Revelations is good also. And just so you know i kinda dont know who melkizideck or however you spell his name is but i can tell you hes in the Bible(ithink)

9:26 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

i know that he is in the Bible and stuff. but the part that confused me was that it says that Jesus will preach under melchizedek's authority and that melch. has no beginning or end. chris?

9:53 PM
Blogger The Carters said...

Holy Cow! Bloggers out of Control!AS far as Melchezedek goes... blog it on the "Random Question" Page and you might get a response.

Good ideas so far... keep them coming. Don't worry Ricky, I didn't forget your input!

9:26 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

How could you forget it? it was most the blogs on the other topic.
Revelations would be a good lesson to teach, but I think it would be very complicated. As far as Matthew 5 goes, Pastor Dean just taught us about the Sermon on the Mount. It was like a 5 week series I think.

10:31 AM
Blogger shannon said...

Hey tonight i got an idea for an idea to give you. We should talk about drama!

9:07 PM
Blogger The Carters said...

Drama... not a bad idea!

11:08 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

Hey! Good Thinkin' Lincoln, or Shannon. Whatever. Drama would be good.

11:10 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

Holy Cow, you just put that in when
I was typing mine!

11:11 AM
Blogger shannon said...

Lincoln What? Ok well i think maybe somthin about like revelations but maybe its to complicated.

5:32 PM
Blogger amanda said...

yes revelations is confusing but that's why chris should discuss it. help us understand it more. i know someone named lincoln.

5:58 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Good thinkin' lincoln rhymes. One of my counselors at a camp told it to me, and now I say it whenever I hear a good idea.

11:00 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

Listen to this Chris(hey, that rhymes too!). Deuteronomy 10:19 says "So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt." Also, Acts 7:19 says "It was he who took shrewed advantage of our race and mistreated our fathers so that they would expose their their infants and and they would not survive." Psalm 2:1, "Why are the nations in an uproar and the people devising a vain thing?" That's all I have for now, but I will keep searching!

3:20 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Here is a good one. Matthew 7:12 says "In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law of the Prophets." Ok, obviously
He was talking about all people, not just that of your own race. I'm on a role!

3:45 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

No, I think regular old racism would be good for Chris to talk about, because you should get your parents to tell you about other religions.

6:28 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

But whatever, I don't want to argue with anyone.

6:28 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Well maybe we could do both like one after the other.

8:26 PM
Blogger The Carters said...

Just so you know I'm listening!

10:24 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Point well taken. I guess it was Chris who told ME to go to MY parents. I guess it doesn't apply to everyone. Sorry for the mistake.

3:30 PM
Blogger shannon said...

How about siblings cuz lots of people have at least one sibling they dont get along with.

7:42 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

whos Ashley? But anyways Shanon thats a good idea! evryone has a sibling that they dont get along with.

8:04 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

wow jamie you typed that 2 minutes
after mine!

8:18 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

I agree that sib lessons would be good, but it wouldn't be fair to those who are an only child. You know what? I say just teach about family! Like, first parents, then siblings, and grandparents(maybe) and cousins! Everyone(almost)would get there way this way!

12:25 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

ok jamie!

9:18 PM
Blogger The Carters said...

So here's what I'm thinking:
1) Jamie... think deeper than toasters and flying (I do erase comments!)

2)To know lots about 1 thing, you don't have to know lots about everything. (IN response to Ricky/Ashley conversation about other religions). For example, I know a lot about the English language, but very little about Polish and even less about Swahelie (hey, I don't even know how to spell it!).

So far I've heard we should talk about and siblings? Do the two relate to each other?

8:39 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

what and siblings? you forgot to put the word!

10:24 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

chris, you could explain the Trinity. it's a real easy thing to get mixed up and confused about.

10:34 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

Holy Cow! The same amount of people have seen me as you Chris! I mean my profile! 250!(for now.)

11:17 AM
Blogger The Carters said...

I meant to say "racism" and "siblings"... do the two relate?

1:21 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Not necessarily but they are two really great lessons! But maybe they can relate if like your family adopted someone of a different race and you don't like him/her, but not usually.

3:01 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

they're realted cuz....um...you could not like both of 'em... maybe?

4:43 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Well they could like i dont no maybe your parents were divorced and got remairied you might be racist against tha other person.

5:24 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Good point...all of us!

12:43 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Hey i no who you are ashley! Well ya i agree with you on the counseling or whatever. The loving your enemies would be good cuz lots of people know thier suppised to love thier enemies but dont know how.

7:34 PM
Blogger The Carters said...

So what if the next series is titled "People We Love to " and some of the groups would be The Disabled, Other Races, Siblings... who else?

7:55 AM
Blogger amanda said...

parents, friends, the rest of your family, people who are in authority over you, and the little old lady across the street...

8:58 AM
Blogger amanda said...

you can talk about melchizedek and on how to pronounce his name... just a thought

12:01 PM
Blogger The Carters said...

Whooops, it was supposed to say "People we love to hate"... but that's probably put too strong. So maybe something like "People that make us uncomfortable?" Or maybe, "People We struggle to love", or "People Who..."?

9:19 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Well that makes more sense. People we hate to love?

7:05 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

20 more than you Chris! Profile views! 292! HaHa!

7:48 PM
Blogger shannon said...

I was listening to a youth pastor talk and he was speaking on the how God is like a lion and it was reall y good. He used some verses form isaih and he also used revelations 5: 5. so if you dont want to do all of revelations than that might work fora couple weeks.

11:34 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

out of all the 66 (now 67) comments none of them are about what we have been thinking a lot about. i notice that i pick out all the negative things out of stuff. i don't know why. it's just a habit i guess. i don't know how you could teach about that though. i think a lot of MS and HS people think a lot about doing their best to either please everyone or how to do everything they can to disrespect someone. just a thought...

12:22 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

312 profile views! I'm sorry I'm just exited!

12:48 PM

Ya well i have 72 so there, well chris got any idaes of what your gonna do?

1:20 PM
Blogger shannon said...

5:16 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

im here

5:39 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Huh whatever. I like what pastor dean taught on tuesday, it was on the christmas story, but it was good. Hey chris maybe we could have like a lot of different people talk, like we could see about local youth pastors teaching or somthin.

9:29 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Jamie! AAGGHHH! Anyways, I haven't been here in a while. People we hate to love. That sounds good. Siblings, other races, all around family, friends(sometimes). All of the above. Yes. Good. Keep at it, Chris.

9:59 AM
Blogger shannon said...

Ha Ha. maybe...maybe... i give up im out of ideas. got anything yet Chris?!?

11:31 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Wait! We could talk about the ten commandments unless yall already did that.

8:00 AM
Blogger The Carters said...

I've been gone for a week, so just getting back into the blog. I'm thinking I'm gonna go with the "People we love to hate" idea and talk about groups over the centuries that the majority culture oppressed, disliked, killed, etc as well as who we struggle to love like siblings, family, dorks, etc. I think we'll use a "love your neighbor" passage from the Bible as our base each week. All that said, give me some groups or types of people that historically have been hated/oppresed and some groups that your culture (Junior high) struggles to love.

9:25 AM
Blogger amanda said...

people we love to hate... hmm... in the past people have hated African Americans, and Hitler hated the jews so i guess you could say people of other religions, and i think people that are easy to hate these days are people who aren't doing the new thing or people with outdated styles and such. which is retarded. why would you hate people for what they wear. and people with different backrounds than usual seem to be disqualified. i can't think anymore, it's the weekend and i'm tired.

3:38 PM
Blogger shannon said...

i dont no, maybe it was the whole toaster thing,it freaked me out! Just kidding! Well people we love to hate, nice, what are we gunna do first, siblings, different races, family, or dorks(as chris said)?

7:32 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

dorks, geeks, and nerds oh my!!

7:49 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

What about people who hate to love us? I mean how do we keep strong in those situations? Just a thought.

8:50 PM
Blogger amanda said...

i don't have to worry about that cuz everyone loves me. just messin' with y'all. but that is a good question. especially if it's like someone close to you, such as a good friend or even someone related to you. it feels so early. its like 9:30 but it feels like 6.

9:25 PM
Blogger shannon said...

ok you got a point ricky but what if you hate each other then you REALLY got a problem!

9:31 PM
Blogger shannon said...

Hey i no its a little late, but member last year we did the gift exchange thing, well that was really fun, we should do that next year.

2:18 PM
Blogger The Carters said...

People We Love to : Groups that have been abused over the years.

We could add "people who constantly blog goofball comments just becasue they like to hear themselves talk but don't want to say anything of value..."

On another note: good conversation between Amanda, Ricky and Shannon! I'm starting to work on the idea!

1:04 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Thanx to jamie, I forgot what we were talking about...hold on...oh yeah! Ok, I got an idea from the "Random Questions" post, what if we add non-believers to the "People we love to hate" message? Then again, it would be difficult for those new comers who don't have a relationship with Jesus, so, just forget about this post.

10:26 AM
Blogger Ricky said...

Oh my gosh Jamie! Someone just get Jamie a toaster! Here take my cheap crappy one that hardly works!
Ok anyways, Today is my sister's 15th B-day! Yes, hard to believe Heidi is freakin' 15! Back to the Topic, so for sure you're gonna do the "People we love to Hate"? It would be good, but very hard to grasp for some. Well, this just might be the last time I can post a message before Chris goes to Mexico. See ya Chris!

2:07 PM
Blogger shannon said...

hey this is kinda random chris, but r there any spots open still for camp

3:23 PM
Blogger shannon said...

i no his middle name, i could use it as blackmail!

5:24 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

i wanna know his middle name. tell me!!! please? ok chris, we could add "people-who-want-forgiveness-from-us" to the "people we love to hate." i'm sure a lot of people hold grudges against certain people and that causes them to "love to hate 'em".

5:36 PM
Blogger Ricky said...

Chris! Stop the madness! I don't care if you know my middle name cause it doesn't embarass me. And just to make it harder on you Amanda and Jamie, I'll tell you my middle name if you actually come up to me and ask me!

8:17 PM
Blogger amanda said...

we could add pretty much all people on authority over us to our "people we love to hate" list thing.

12:05 AM
Blogger shannon said...

thats kinda what i figured ricky
chris, r there anymore spots left for camp?

10:54 AM

Since Chris is gone, we've gotten off topic. We went from the discussion about new topics for TRL/MNL, to why people aren't posting stuff on Jamie's blog. Chris, come back.
