Rants and the end of a Series

So I actually tuned into another episode of this fairly mind-numbing show, and am less irritable since "Spiedie" is no long there. And here's the odd thing... I found spiritual applications. I was totally caught at how the celebrities were so enthralled to get some supplies to make s'mores. These are super rich, super famous people who are all excited about the smallest things. What an attitude check jungle living will give! I was pretty excited to see people learning to be happy, even thrilled with some of life's simplest pleasures... especially since much of the world lives as these folks are, but every day of their lives for the rest of their lives.

On a different note, here's the link to Greg Stier's site that shows the 'new' Emma Blue (thanks Troy for tracking this down!)

Typically this blog is all about what we're teaching at LIFE, and 1to3 Groups, and Sunday mornings. But last night I was watching this show and it absolutely bothered me! Have you seen it? The part that bugged me was the Heidi and Spencer (from The Hills) Christian thing. They make HUGE claims about their Christianity, but then Spencer is yelling at everyone, last week he hit one of the other contestants, all he wants is to be rich and famous, etc. He's really nothing more than a soft thug! at least that's how he comes across. Then throughout all his rants and tantrums he talks about Jesus... sigh... it makes me sad. It's no wonder the world think we're weird! It makes me not want to be part of this club!

The best clip from episode 5 (Monday June 8) is when Daniele Baldwin goes on camera and calls it like it is. He nails Spencer for his "convenient Christianity". If I can find that clip I'll post it. In the meantime, here's how one blogger put it, "Daniel calls Speidi’s brand of religion “convenient Christianity.” Thank you! It’s really easy to tell people how Christian you are and yell out the Lord’s name for show, and then turn around and act like Spencer has this whole time. “Where’s the Christianity in that?” Daniel is now officially my favorite Baldwin brother" ( Tyler Sandersfeld -- 06/09/2009, Reality News online)

So what are your thoughts? Am I off base here? Should I be more tolerant of people who overtly give Christians a bad name? Those who make us look just foolish?
