High School Sunday School Series

So we're working our way thru the Bible in a four year rhythem. We're about to finish Mark, and will then start what smart guys like to call "The Pentateuch". Sometimes it's called the Torah (the Jewish name). Basically it's the first 5 books of the OT. So what are your thoughts? Questions? Ideas? I want to keep it interresting and moving, at the same time there is LOTS of great and important stuff in there. We'll be in it through March (probably) so tell me some stuff you want to hear about. Also tell me the stuff you're so tired hearing about!

A new addition to this post: We're heading into Genesis right now and for the next 4 weeks Dominic Fiori (a very cool guy, and an elder to boot!) will be taking HS through the 4 major characters in Genesis: Noah, Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph. Be sure to read ahead so you can pick his brain like crazy... or pick his crazy brain. I guarentee if you ask a good question you will get an anser you totally don't expect!

Monday/Tuesday Teaching topic for October

Hey guys, the next topic I'm planning on covering for October is: Death. I know that might sound morbid, but frankly we (the Church) just doesn't talk about it enough. So probably two weeks (starting Tuesday October 18). We'll look at some "death facts" like everyone will experience it, how to help someone who is sad becasue of a death, how death should make us enjoy life more, and the idea of what will happen to you after death.

Are you interrested in gettin into the whole "what is Heaven like, what is Hell lilke thing"?

What else should I tackle?

If it's your first time out!

If this is your first time dropping in on this conversation here's some helpful tips:

1) This is a chance for us to talk about what I'm teaching, and what I'd like to be an ongoing conversation we have on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday's.

2) Be nice! Nothing foul, nothing mean, and nothing cruel!

3) This is not a gossip board. Don't talk about other students.

4) Interact about the lessons, the series I'm teaching, or something we should teach about. This is not the time to rant on Youth Ministry or the church... That's another blog!

5) If you can't print your name, don't print the blog. Nothing anonymous. You can have whatever opinion you want, but be bold enough to sign your name!

6) Be honest. This is not the "pat Chris on the back" zone. You don't have to agree with me or try to make me feel good, but you do have to be helpful.

That's about it I think. I appreciate you taking time to help us think through what we teach in Youth Ministry. Know that your input is very valued by me and the others that teach youth here at Calvary. Think about it, where else do you get to be part of the Sermon preparation?
