Mythbusters

Ever see that Discovery channel show MythBusters? You know, the one where they take a commenly held idea -- like a portapotty can explode if too much Methane builds up in it, or if you're in a falling elevator you can survive if you jump up in the air at the very last second-- and test it by recreating the situation in a scientific way to prove if it is plausable or not? Well, what if we figure out a way to do that with commonly held ideas about the Christian faith? Stuff like "the Bible says that God helps those who help themselves" or "Christians are the happiest people". Well, the Bible never says that and maybe Christians aren't the happiest people.

So here's the question: what are some commonly held ideas-- myths-- that Christians belileve? And, if possible, what would be a cool, hands on way of testing the myth?

Hmm, this is a good idea, but I'm gonna have to think long and hard of things we believe that can be tested. I know God tells us not to test him, but maybe some things we can, some things that aren't like "If there were a God, he wouldn't let me break my leg when I jump off the second story of my house." But I'm gonna think about something we can test that could prove Christianity is correct. I guess.

wow i made huge comment but it didnt work!!
k lemme start over
I LOVE MYTHBUSTERS!!!
i donno why but i do.anyway people defenitely get the wrong idea from the media. the media mainly shows the weird and crazy people that claim to be christians. or at skool everyone was saying a coulp years back there were people there that would give you i piece of candy if you became a christian.
anyway. in history we were also talking aobut the bill of right and the first one is on freedoms(speech, press, religion, pursuit of happiness, yada yada...) and our teacher was saying how when she was a kid they made her say a prayer(the Lords Prayer) and how they dont do that anymore cuz its illegal.
anyway, the other day we had a "moment of silence" for 9/11 and then the next day she was talking about how she wouldnt be allowed to even like bow her head in front of the class. i donno why
anyway, rabbit trail...

Keep thinking my faithful Bloggers!
Remember, we want to find something that most Christians believe is true, Biblical, or Godly. Then test it somehow to see if they're right. We not testing God -- Ricky, good point-- we're testing a belief. I think sometimes we say stuff is Biblical or Godly when it is really just cultural

Ok, ok, I'm still thinking hard. Hmm, what's something that isn't commonly accepted, that we believe, that can be tested? I'm still thinking hard. I know there is one where peeps say no one can be swallowed by a whale, even though Jonah was, but we couldn't like, let a person be swallowed by a whale so that doesn't work. Hmm...

I think a lot of people think that all Christians are like, follow the rules or go to hell. Haha, like, ya know people think Christianity is all about religion and do this and do that and don't do that or you'll be punished blah blah blah! SOOOO to "test" this we could survey people and ask them like what Christianity is about and divide them into Non-Christians and Christians, then like compare their answers and in the end we will feel SMART!

why would we feel smart?
